Every school management platform says it has AI now. Some of it is real. Some of it is a support chatbot. And some of it is a calendar that checks for clashes, which software has done for twenty years.
If you run a tutoring centre, language school, music school, or weekend school, you don't need a pitch. You need to know what you'd actually get. So we went through eight platforms' own websites, help centres, and release notes, and wrote down what each one ships today.
Last checked: 15 October 2026. AI features change quickly, so we'll keep this page current.
A note before you start: we make Teach 'n Go, which is one of the eight. We've held our own product to the same standard as everyone else's, including where that means saying another platform got somewhere first.
The short answer
Two platforms have substantial AI built for running an education business: TutorCruncher and Teach 'n Go. They point it at different jobs. TutorCruncher's AI, called Bobbin, writes lesson reports and lesson plans from recorded sessions, and is sold as a separate subscription. Teach 'n Go's AI works on the admin side: setting up your school, answering questions about your own data, drafting fee reminders and parent messages.
Jackrabbit, DreamClass, and Classter each have one or two narrower AI features. Teachworks has an AI support agent but no AI in the product itself. We found no AI features at all in TutorBird or My Music Staff.
Two platforms let you connect Claude or ChatGPT directly to your school's data: TutorCruncher, since July 2026, and Teach 'n Go, from today.

How we checked
For each platform we read the features pages, pricing page, blog, release notes, and help centre, then searched for anything announced elsewhere. We sorted what we found into three groups:
- Shipped: you can use it today, according to the vendor.
- Announced or rolling out: the vendor has said it's coming, or it's reaching customers gradually. Feature-request boards don't count.
- Support AI: a chatbot that answers questions about using the software. Useful, but it doesn't do anything with your school's data, so we've listed it separately.
We didn't count words like "smart" or "intelligent" as AI unless the vendor describes something that actually uses it. And where we found nothing, we say "we found no AI features", not "there are none". If a vendor has shipped something we missed, we'd like to hear about it and we'll correct this page.
TutorCruncher
TutorCruncher has done more with AI than anyone else on this list, and most of it is aimed at the teaching itself.
Bobbin is TutorCruncher's AI product for tutors. After a session, it transcribes the lesson recording and drafts a structured lesson report, which the tutor reviews before it goes out. It also generates lesson plans from a prompt and tracks student progress over time. Bobbin went live in May 2026 and has been available as a standalone platform since September 2026. It's priced separately from TutorCruncher, starting at £79 a month for 80 hours of lessons.
TutorCruncher also has a built-in MCP server, added in July 2026. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the standard way AI assistants connect to other software. It lets Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex look things up in your TutorCruncher account and, if you allow it, make changes there too. You need the admin permission to use the API, and TutorCruncher's help article doesn't say which of its plans include it.
Good fit if: you run a tutoring business where lesson reports to parents eat up your tutors' time, and you're happy to pay for that separately.
Teach 'n Go
Teach 'n Go's AI is aimed at the people running the school rather than the lessons. Some of it is on every plan, and the rest comes with Teach 'n Go Pro.
On every plan:
- AI school setup: upload or paste a spreadsheet, and AI turns it into students, classes, and teachers for you to review.
- AI leads import: AI reads your enquiry list, whatever format it's in, and files the contacts as prospects.
- Ask AI about your school: ask a question in plain English, like "who owes us money?", and get an answer from your own data. Every school gets 15 answered questions a month.
- AI support assistant: help using Teach 'n Go, any time.
With Teach 'n Go Pro:
- Unlimited Ask AI questions.
- AI fee recovery: polite payment reminders drafted for every overdue fee.
- AI-drafted messages: describe what you want to say to parents and get a draft, in whatever language each parent speaks.
- A weekly digest email, plus same-day alerts when something needs you.
- Students needing attention: flags for slipping attendance or engagement. To be clear, these are worked out by fixed rules, not by AI. We'd rather you knew.
Nothing AI drafts reaches a student, parent, or teacher until you approve it.
From today, Pro schools can also connect Claude to Teach 'n Go. Once an admin switches it on, you can ask Claude about your school's attendance, schedule, classes, and money from inside a Claude chat. The connector is read-only: Claude can look things up but can't add, change, or delete anything. It's in beta, it works with Claude only for now, and each connection covers one school. Here's how to set it up.
TutorCruncher's connector got there first and can make changes as well as read. We chose read-only on purpose: when an assistant can't change your records, a misunderstood question can't become a wrong invoice.
Good fit if: your time goes on admin, chasing fees, and messaging parents, and you'd like AI help on the plan you already pay for.
Jackrabbit
Jackrabbit has two AI features, both narrow and both available now.
Zippy AI is an email-writing assistant in the Email/Text Families editor. It drafts messages and can pull in details from the class record. It has been available since 2024.
The Recital Order Generator uses AI to draft a recital running order and flag conflicts such as quick costume changes and siblings. It was tested in Jackrabbit Labs, Jackrabbit's beta programme, and released to everyone at the end of July 2026. Jackrabbit says every AI suggestion is checked before it's accepted.
Jackrabbit's own API is still in beta, and we found no Claude or ChatGPT connector. Jackrabbit Music runs on the same platform as Jackrabbit Class, so the same features apply.
Good fit if: you run a dance or activity programme and recitals are a real headache.
DreamClass
DreamClass announced AI-generated report card comments in June 2025, and they appear on its academic management page: "AI-Generated Reports: Create narrative summaries in seconds". They turn a student's assessment records into a written summary. DreamClass doesn't say which plans include them, and the help centre articles we read on report cards only describe writing comments by hand, so it's worth confirming in a trial.
DreamClass also makes DreamTimetable, a separate timetabling app with its own login and pricing. Its plans include "AI-assisted schedule import". It isn't part of DreamClass itself.
Good fit if: you produce formal report cards each term and want help with the written comments.
Classter
Classter is a larger platform built for K-12 schools and colleges, and it's moving into AI on a licensed basis.
Its Early Warning System went live in August 2026. It flags students as high, medium, or low risk using rules the school sets, and AI writes the plain-English explanation of why. Classter puts it simply: "AI writes the explanation. It never decides the score." It's only available to schools that have Classter's AI module licensed and switched on. We couldn't find a published price for that module.
Epicurus, Classter's AI assistant, answers questions using Classter's own documentation. As of October 2026, Classter says Epicurus and its AI agents "are rolling out through the year".
Good fit if: you're a larger, more formal school with the budget for a licensed AI module.
Teachworks
We found no AI features in the Teachworks product. Teachworks 3.0, released in July 2026, brought a redesign, 46 languages, and mobile-friendly pages, but no AI.
Teachworks does have an AI agent for support: a chat assistant that answers questions about using Teachworks, in 46 languages. It helps you use the software, but it doesn't work with your school's data.
You'll see "Smart Scheduling" on the Teachworks site. From the feature pages, this is conflict checking, repeating lessons, and teacher availability: useful rules, not AI.
Teachworks has an API on its Growth and Premium plans, and a Zapier integration. We found no Claude or ChatGPT connector of its own.
TutorBird and My Music Staff
TutorBird and My Music Staff are sister products from the same company, and we found no AI features in either.
Both can scan an expense receipt and read the price, payee, and date from a photo. Neither describes this as AI, so we haven't counted it. Their automation, like billing runs and lesson reminders, is rule-based. Both connect to Zapier.
"Smart" doesn't always mean AI
Watch for these when you're reading feature pages:
- "Smart scheduling" usually means the calendar spots clashes. That's helpful, but it's a rule, not AI.
- "Automated" reminders and invoices run on a schedule you set.
- A support chatbot answers questions about the software. It doesn't know anything about your students.
- Zapier's AI tools can connect almost any app to an assistant. That's Zapier's feature, not the school platform's.
- A blog post about using ChatGPT is advice, not a product feature.
Five questions to ask before you buy
- Can I use it today? Ask whether it's available to every customer now, or announced, in beta, or rolling out.
- Is it included, or extra? Some AI comes with your plan. Some is a separate subscription or a licensed module.
- Does anything go out without me seeing it? For messages to parents, you want to approve the draft first.
- What can it see, and can it change things? Find out whether an assistant can read only, or edit and delete as well.
- Is my data used to train anyone's model? Get the answer in writing.
Frequently asked questions
Which school management software has AI?
As of October 2026, TutorCruncher and Teach 'n Go have the widest range of AI features. TutorCruncher's Bobbin writes lesson reports and plans, as a separate subscription. Teach 'n Go's AI handles school setup, questions about your own data, fee reminders, and parent messages. Jackrabbit, DreamClass, and Classter have narrower AI features. We found none in Teachworks, TutorBird, or My Music Staff, apart from Teachworks' support agent.
Can I connect ChatGPT or Claude to my school management software?
With TutorCruncher, yes: its MCP server works with Claude, ChatGPT, and Codex, and can read and change data. With Teach 'n Go Pro, you can connect Claude, read-only, in beta. We didn't find a native connector for the other six platforms.
Is AI included in the price?
It depends. Teach 'n Go includes AI school setup, AI leads import, and 15 Ask AI questions a month on every plan, with more on Pro. TutorCruncher's Bobbin is a separate subscription from £79 a month. Classter's AI needs a licensed module. Jackrabbit and DreamClass don't say.
Does AI decide which students are at risk?
Not in the platforms we checked. Classter's Early Warning System and Teach 'n Go's students-needing-attention flags both use fixed rules to decide who's flagged. In Classter, AI then writes the explanation.
